SELECTED RAGAM: SHIVASHAKTHI This rare ragam is a Janya of Natakapriya. When I heard it for the first time, its resemblance to Hindolam was immediately felt. Since I did not have the present day tools at that time, I could not find out the reason. I have given below the notes for the two ragams and the similarity could be felt. More than Hindolam, it is Varamu ( shuddha hindolam ) which looks the closest.
